Yesterday afternoon, I went up to the offices of the World Business Academy to meet with their founder Rinaldo Brutoco.

http://worldbusiness.org

Rinaldo is a lawyer and businessman who started off as an activist at UC Berkeley about 1970, was effective in student activism, was a friend and co-worker with Ralph Nader ("Unsafe at Any Speed"), and went on to a long and successful career, such that he can now work 50 hours a week for his very ambitious activism - mostly centered on stopping nuclear power ("shut down Diablo Canyon"), new energy, climate change, and "conscious business" (reforming the predatory tendencies of major business). We spent two hours in his very attractive and fertile office up at the Riviera Research Park above the Santa Barbara Mission, and one of the many subjects we talked about was his upcoming conference (this weekend), bringing 55 progressive business leaders together as the Business Alliance for the Future.

Two critical points of advocacy and general agreement among us and the BAF membership: 1) raise the minimum wage, and 2) deal with huge income inequity (CEO pay, etc.). Rinaldo advocates the first and wants to deal with the second. He's well-networked across many business associations, has strong academic connections, and has the wherewithal to make things happen . And oh, PS, he's close friends with Barbara Marx Hubbard, and the President of the Deepak Chopra Foundation, who he is bringing to Santa Barbara later this month for some serious fund-raising.

My point:

I want to explore connecting the conference/network activist agenda being developed by Maria Shriver called Paycheck to Paycheck and Rinaldo's Business Alliance for the Future. A powerful alliance could emerge here if these forces come together.

Earlier this morning, in response to a brief segment on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program where Maria Shriver introduced her new film and national conversation on "Paycheck to Paycheck" -- http://shriverreport.org/film/ -- I posted a message on the general theme of "Network Nation" to the main NCDD discussion.

After I posted that message, and feeling the surge - I checked into the domain name networknation.net - discovered that .org and .com were not available, but .net was - and I bought it. Using an iFrame redirect, I then created a website at that address, and propose to explore these issues there.

http://networknation.net

I attach to this message a couple of word.docx files (hope people can read them), one with my message from yesterday on Democracy in the Cloud (cleaned up a bit), and one with my message to NCDD from this morning.

Something is jumping. This stuff might work. And it's stunningly powerful.

Thanks to all for all you give.
